Helping the Helpers: Social Justice, Restoration and Hope for Those Who Give

With Sarah Delroy and Zahura Ahmed

May 7 - 11, 2025

Restoration for those who generously give: Rejuvenate the mind, body and spirit through somatic exercises and nature connection practices.

As generous souls, we often carry the weight of the world’s suffering, grappling with how to engage in the right ways without becoming overwhelmed. The desire to make a difference can feel urgent, even when we’re running on empty. The overculture celebrates being overly busy, often burdening society’s most sensitive and marginalized to do the emotional heavy lifting through their work, with very little room for rest. This workshop is designed to help cultivate resilience and hope, allowing you to meet the world as it is, while embracing a greater sense of belonging and support.

Through somatic exercises and nature connection practices, we will explore ways to nourish ourselves, ensuring that instead of burnout, we find ourselves seen, supported, and reinvigorated. Join us to restore your strength, discover the power of limitations, and the beauty of attending one’s call with renewed hope.

Learning Objectives

  • Leave the workshop feeling more grounded with a greater sense of hope
  • Releasing grief, completing the stress cycle, and inviting deep rest
  • Look at the self as the land and ways we can better be stewards of our bodies, energy, and identities
  • Celebrate ourselves and our beautiful limitations
  • Renewing hope using ritual

Expected Activities

  • Guided meditation and yoga
  • A mix of solo and group activities
  • Deep sharing within a safe container
  • Activities that help us listen deeply to ourselves and each other
  • Getting to know each other through laughter and grounding
  • Forest and garden walks
  • Solo time to integrate, luxuriate, and rest

“The way Zahura conducts the class is an incredible balance between theory and practice; she allows us to learn with our experiences making everything more relatable and easy to understand/practice. This is the best course I’ve taken so far and Zahura is the best instructor I’ve had, she is so humane and that is so important for what we are learning.” ~Student, Intercultural Communication in the Workplace, Fall 2024
