Administration

Position: Human Resources Lead
Reports to: CEO

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Human Resources Lead works with the Hollyhock Leadership team to create a meaningful and connected workplace for our staff ranging from 12-80  depending on the time of year. This role participates in all areas of the employee  experience including recruitment, performance management and development,  compensation and benefits, justice, equity, diversity and inclusion, policies and  procedures, and employee engagement.

Development

Position: Partnership Development Associate
Reports to: Development Director
Term: Full-time (40 hours/week), permanent
Location: Remote within Cortes Island, Vancouver, Vancouver Island. Requires the ability to travel to Cortes Island 6 times a year
Compensation: $52,000- $65,000 annually based on experience

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Partnership Development Associate reports to the Development Director and will steward existing partners and develop new prospects as needed to support an expanding Hollyhock Leadership Institute program. They will work closely with the Development Director, Social Innovation Director, and key stakeholders to maximize funding opportunities through strategic partnerships for the Hollyhock Leadership Institute curated programs designed to challenge systems and scale social impact.

The ideal candidate will be a natural connector and relationship builder, with experience crafting persuasive pitches for a variety of audiences – successful experience in proposal and/or grant writing is a must. A background working in purpose-based organizations, specifically in impact businesses, climate, equity, or advocacy, is a strong asset. A commitment to teamwork and strong interpersonal skills are also key for this role.

Marketing

Position: Community Outreach Lead (Business Development)
Reports to: Marketing Manager
Term: Full-time (5 days and 40 hours/week), permanent
Location: Remote within British Columbia. Requires the ability to travel to Cortes Island 4 – 5 times a year
Compensation: $52,000- $65,000 plus benefits and a discretionary bonus based on meeting revenue targets

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Community Outreach Lead reports to the Marketing Manager and is responsible for sharing Hollyhock’s programs with mission-aligned  organizations in the pursuit of program registrations for social impact. The role  will reach out to new and existing stakeholders and act as a guide to suggest and sell Hollyhock programs based on organizational needs.

You are a people person, driven by a desire to provide solutions to the challenges people and organizations face. Position: Second Cook

Wage: $20 per hour

ABOUT THE ROLE

Hollyhock cooks have a passion for creating beautiful and delicious foods that enliven and nourish all. Second Cooks have a positive and friendly attitude, are committed to proper sanitation and share a strong work ethic. They are willing and able to learn and they are open to following directions, receiving feedback, and offering their highest abilities and efforts to all jobs at hand. This position requires cooks who are inspired to feature the garden’s daily harvest within all meals and integrate our garden’s organic vegetables, herbs, edible flowers, and fruits. It is integral that meals are offered on time, the food is beautiful, fresh, healthy, and prepared to the highest standards with positive energy. Working in the Hollyhock kitchen is a team-centered environment. It is a place where guests, students, and presenters experience and taste on a daily basis the actions of what Hollyhock is essentially about – nourishing and inspiring people.

This position is exposed to continuous deadlines, long hours working on your feet, and operating kitchen equipment where safety is of utmost importance. You may be asked to work outside of regular working hours or split shifts as needed, which may include evenings, weekends, holidays and extended hours as business dictates.

As a Third Cook you will be part of a dynamic high performing team preparing meals from our renowned Hollyhock kitchen. The healthy, organic, vegetarian fare features ingredients from the abundant French-Intensive garden located just outside our kitchen door.

Third Cooks are responsible for the taste and appearance of our food preparations. The Third Cook ensures that health and safety standards are followed during all food preparation at their assigned station. Third Cooks are responsible for the cleanliness and appearance of their station and the kitchen in general. You have a positive and friendly attitude, are committed to proper sanitation, and share a strong work ethic. ABOUT THE ROLE

This position greets, checks in the guests and seats them at meal times, serves the meals, handles financial transactions, and the sale of alcohol. This position is also responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and aesthetic of the lodge, cleaning and maintaining the self-serve stations, and assisting with running the snack bar. This position also performs some prep tasks in the kitchen as required.

Position: Guest Representative

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Guest Representative is the first welcoming point of contact guests have upon arriving. This position is tasked with providing outstanding service while performing the daily activities of the front desk. This includes the completion of guest check in & check out, taking reservations, answering phones and emails while handling various guest inquiries. Registration is the communication hub for guests, presenters and staff.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Hollyhock Housekeepers & Outdoor Guest Services team are an important part of our operational team! Ensuring the overall cleanliness of our Island Campus guest rooms, session spaces, hot tubs and grounds.  Housekeepers are needed on our busy turnover days to help with general cleaning and making rooms for arriving guests. A positive attitude and clear communication is essential. Our Housekeepers & OGS team provide guest room check in support and answer any guest inquiries while out on the grounds. This is a physical role with a need for speed and quality.
