SAORI: Weaving without Boundaries

With Terri Bibby

June 11 - 16, 2023

Terri flawlessly combined the techniques of Saori with the philosophy. I didn’t want the week to end – Past Participant

Explore the beautiful SAORI weaving philosophy from Japan where there are no rules and no mistakes. This philosophy encourages you to “look out through eyes that shine” and see beauty in new ways. It places more importance on free expression and creativity than on technical skills or the regularity of the woven cloth.

SAORI Looms will be set up and you will be able to start weaving right away whether you have never woven before or have been weaving for many years.

Immerse yourself in colour and texture while creating your own unique weavings!

Participants can expect to:

  • Learn the basics of weaving on an easy-to-use floor loom
  • Explore the philosophy of SAORI weaving
  • Create beautiful, creative cloth for wall hangings, bags, clothing and more

Materials & Equipment

An extra charge of $150 CAD will cover all materials and supplies needed during this program. SAORI portable floor looms will also be provided by Terri for your use.
