Wow it has actually happened. We are open for the 2021 season and I couldn’t be more thrilled! This week our staff team gathered safety outdoors under our new outdoor stretch tent and it was magic. In the heat of this first week, we welcomed back 12 guests, and are looking forward to more over the summer.
We are looking at this season as a transition from operating in the pandemic to our 40th Anniversary season in 2022. There are lots of changes happening. We will transition our meal experience from shared family style to a plated service, we will welcome guests with a new host bar in the dining room, and we will hold more flexible outdoor spaces to gather – including infrared heating on our oceanside deck. We will continue to offer virtual programs, alongside deeper and more intimate in-person programs on campus.
Last week I shared a meal on the Hollyhock deck with our neighbours in Cortes tourism and elders from the Klahoose Nation. It was wonderful to hear everyone’s aspirations for this summer. We are excited for our partnerships with Klahoose, Misty Isles, the Cortes Museum as well as Cortes Kayaks, SUP Cortes and Wild Waterways Adventures. We are excited to welcome day visitors for meals, bodywork, activities, and in our store.
In addition to our regular schedule, we are also offering private activity options this year, including yoga, naturalist walks, and garden tours.
Our season will be short, sweet, and bright.
We can’t wait to see you on the island. Come for a program, enjoy a holiday, or stop by for a day visit!
With love,
– Andrea
