AI for Flourishing: Weaving Wisdom & Technology

With Hollyhock Leadership Institute

October 19 - 23, 2025

“As we walk the tightrope of planetary-scale transformation, it’s becoming clear that we need to upgrade not just our technologies and infrastructures, but our ways of relating – to ourselves, to each other and to the living planet.” – Futurecraft

AI for Flourishing is a gathering of technologists, practitioners, founders, policymakers, activists, educators, and artists working at the forefront of AI. Together, we will explore what it means to build and steward this technology in service of planetary and human well-being.

AI has untapped potential: revitalizing Indigenous languages, advancing equitable healthcare, restoring ecosystems, democratizing opportunity, and even enabling communication across species.

There are also immense challenges – some known and some less understood – stemming from profit driven models, data privacy and ethics challenges, bias that permeates the models as well as many of the organizations at the forefront of this charge. In the face of that, we are individually and collectively wrestling to understand, intervene and create in service of our collective wellbeing – while minimizing the existential risk.

Program Outcomes

We’re convening leaders shaping AI’s future—from startups and policy labs to global tech firms, creatives and grassroots communities. The outcomes listed below are our shared starting points. These will be shaped, challenged and expanded through dialogue and collaboration.

  • Strategic Clarity
Gain a deeper understanding of the AI landscape and your role within it. We’ll identify power structures driving the field, examine geopolitical dynamics, and explore how to influence AI’s trajectory from both inside and outside dominant systems
  • Practical Tools for Ethical Action
Walk away with frameworks and resources to immediately apply in your work, including:

    • Models for AI that support human and planetary flourishing
    • Power and systems mapping to identify high-leverage interventions
    • Conscious AI approach integrating ethical reflection, emotion, and wisdom
    • AI for Inquiry methodologies to generate new perspectives and ask better questions.
  • Visionary Inspiration
What haven’t we dared to imagine about AI? In a sector defined by speed, scale, and efficiency, we’ll stretch the limits of collective imagination—exploring stories, strategies, and speculative futures that place life, care, and interconnection at the center.
  • Enriched Ecosystem
This is about more than ideas. It’s about people. Participants will leave with a network of trusted collaborators across disciplines—committed to building shared accountability and shaping AI’s future through culture, connection, and courageous experimentation.

A Three-Year Journey Begins

AI for Flourishing launches a bold, three-year initiative to understand and intervene in the culture and trajectory of artificial intelligence, as it continues to evolve at unprecedented speed.

Each year, we’ll return to Hollyhock to deepen relationships, cultivate cross-sector collaboration, and grow a critical movement for systemic change.

Who Should Attend

The 2025 gathering includes a cohort of 50 participants, curated by invitation. The cohort is multidisciplinary, with a diverse group of technologists, practitioners, activists, funders, policymakers, educators, and artists with a shared commitment to shaping an AI future towards human and planetary flourishing.

Scholarship funding supports participation, with priority for funding going to individuals who have been racialized, minoritized, or face economic barriers.
