Hollyhock programs are enriched by welcoming a multitude of voices and experiences that reflect global plurality. The Hollyhock scholarship program is one of the key strategies we employ to expand program access to underrepresented and marginalized communities.

Hollyhock Scholarship Fund

As part of our ongoing journey we acknowledge that Hollyhock, as a place of learning and regeneration, is not without its barriers. For many, being able to afford to attend programs and travel to Cortes Island is a financial privilege. As part of our commitment to cultivate spaces of loving openness to diverse ideas, people, and ways of being, we aim to reduce some of the financial barriers by way of the Hollyhock Scholarship Program.

Through the scholarship program, we are committed to supporting and prioritizing members of the Global Majority (a collective term for Indigenous people and people of African, Asian, Latin American, and Arab descent who together comprise the vast majority, around 80%, of people in the world); as well as members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ communities.

We recommend applying for a scholarship as early as possible to ensure you have time to make your travel arrangements and complete the registration process. If you are applying 30 days or less from the program start date please contact our registration team to check if funds are still available for your program.

Scholarship FAQ

Dana Bass Solomon Scholarship

In 2018, Hollyhock established the Dana Bass Solomon Scholarship Fund in honour of our former CEO and her 20 years of extraordinary leadership.

This fund supports full tuition, room, and meals for emerging leaders who demonstrate financial need and extraordinary potential in community innovation, arts, and culture, or social and environmental change.

All applications will be considered for a full DBS Scholarship, and up to 12 are available each year.

Thomas Kineshanko

March 20, 1985 – March 15, 2023

“We can’t solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them.”

These wise words by Albert Einstein were truly embodied by Tom Kineshanko. He was a visionary who believed in the power of innovation and collaboration to create positive change. Tom was always seeking new ways of doing things and challenging existing systems.
