True Confessions

We start each SVI with a True Confessions storytelling presentation. True Confessions are not canned speeches about how to become a wildly successful entrepreneur. They’re personal stories from leaders who have faced enormous challenges and made some big mistakes that they’re willing to talk about. They’re also real-life stories from leaders who made a decision to do something meaningful and were successful in doing so.

The True Confessions model is all about offering honest, vulnerable experiences of seasoned leaders so that listeners can apply lessons of trials and triumphs to their own venture.

Interactive Case Studies

At SVI Sea to Sky we will feature enterprises that have identified a specific strategic challenge to a panel of experts. The format is highly interactive and experiential. Participants present their business problems to a panel of experienced business leaders and fellow participants. In return, they receive advice, tools, and resources to strengthen and grow their enterprise in a socially conscious way.

Save Da Sea

Aki Kaltenbach is the founder of Save Da Sea, a plant-based seafood company based in Victoria, BC. The idea for Save Da Sea came while she was running her family’s Japanese restaurants. After becoming vegan in 2018, Aki searched for plant-based seafood alternatives but found few options available. Determined to fill this gap, she developed her own recipes and began serving them in the restaurants. Once she saw a growing demand for these products, she took the leap in 2019 to focus on Save Da Sea full-time.

Today, Save Da Sea is pioneering the plant-based seafood movement in Canada. Their products, made from whole foods and free from toxins and microplastics, offer a sustainable alternative to traditional seafood. As the first Canadian company to bring fresh, refrigerated, plant-based seafood to market, they now offer three products in over 500 retailers nationwide, including Whole Foods,
Save-On-Foods, and Sobeys.
