Gathering Around the Buffet Table Once Again

Yes. You read that correctly. One of Hollyhock’s most cherished traditions—the buffet—is making its long-awaited comeback for our 2025 season. This return has been years in the making, and we are thrilled to welcome guests back to enjoy the vibrant, communal dining experience that is so central to the Hollyhock spirit.

When we reopened in 2021, the world was still in the throes of the COVID-19 pandemic. Safety was our top priority, and while our buffet service had been the heart of Hollyhock dining for decades, we needed to adapt quickly. Switching to plated service helped us create a safe, socially distanced environment that aligned with public health protocols. We carefully designed the plated meals to maintain the same commitment to fresh, local ingredients and nourishing, delicious food that Hollyhock is known for, but it was clear something special was missing—the joy of spontaneity, and community that buffet-style dining brings. Our guests told us that they missed standing in line!

Our buffet is more than a way to serve food; it’s a place where meaningful connections are made. It allows each guest to choose from an array of beautiful dishes that cater to diverse tastes and dietary preferences. It is a gathering place where stories are exchanged, plates are filled with curiosity and creativity, and where everyone can connect with each other and the love of the land that goes into each dish.

Next season, our returning buffet will feature the same commitment to predominantly plant-based, locally sourced ingredients and ethical animal proteins that support our vision of wellness and sustainability. Our culinary team will offer a rotating menu of vibrant dishes, blending Hollyhock favourites with seasonal creations inspired by the West Coast. Guests can look forward to fresh salads, hearty grains, creative vegetable dishes, and ethically sourced seafood and meat,  curated with care and respect for the island’s local resources and farmers.

The return of our buffet signifies so much more than a service style; it’s a return to a sense of community and the freedom to choose and share in a way that feels open and welcoming. For Hollyhock, it’s a step back to our roots, celebrating connection and nourishing one another through the simple joy of gathering around a table. We can’t wait for you to join us.
