Creative Journaling: Tending The Fire Within

With Jenn Forgie

May 7 - 12, 2027

“I want to know what you ache for and if you dare to dream of meeting your heart’s longing. I want to know if you will stand in the centre of the fire with me and not shrink back…” — Oriah Mountain Dreamer, The Invitation

There are fires within each of us. What are yours?

Set amidst the breathtaking beauty of Cortes Island, join facilitator Jenn Forgie for this immersive retreat designed around her unique creative journaling practice, where writing opens conversations with ourselves and with one another.

Through original writing prompts, narrative exploration, interactive play, and shared experiences, we’ll discover what calls for our attention and what it means to become the tender of our own fires, by choice and by design.

Come explore in a community of women who are ready to slow down, listen deeply, and discover the richness of their inner worlds with curiosity and a sense of creative wonder.

Leave with a stronger connection to your own fires, to one another, and to a creative journaling practice that continues long after our time together.

*No previous journaling or writing experience is required for our journey together.*

A Canadian playwright of Métis, French, Irish, and Scottish heritage, Jenn recently completed her first play, Seven Pieces, an interdisciplinary work exploring generational trauma, healing, and reintegration. Her writing has been supported by numerous arts grants and recognized with the Cayle Chernin Award for women in theatre.

A multidisciplinary artist, Jenn's work also includes movement, voice, storytelling, and improvisation. She has collaborated with acclaimed vocal artist Rhiannon and dancer Margie Gillis through the Murmuration Project, exploring the intersection of improvisation, movement, and voice.

Jenn has spent more than a decade developing her own creative slow-writing modality. Through her original writing invitations and facilitation, she invites people into an ongoing conversation with themselves—one that nurtures self-knowing, authentic expression, and greater self-trust.

Her signature retreat, Tending the Fire Within, now in its third year at Hollyhock, invites women to discover, reclaim, and tend the inner fires that are uniquely their own.

Jenn's work is further informed by her training as an End-of-Life Doula, Tellington TTouch companion animal practitioner, and her deep relationship with the natural world.
