Pwātamowin – the act of dreaming – A Yogic retreat
With Malina Dawn
July 11 - 16, 2025
Pwātamowin is a Cree word meaning “the act of dreaming.”
But this is not the kind of dreaming you do when you sleep; it is akin to catching visions. This planet needs more healed people and a big part of that process is us being able to catch a beautiful and powerful healing vision for our lives and the next generations. A vision that keeps our inner light and our will to do what we can—to be a positive and effective part of the collective. We cannot go forward if we are always stuck in the past and weighed down by our grief or if we are only concerned for our own selves. We must remember we are connected to everyone and everything in Creation.
This is an invitation to reclaim our ability to be in joy, to celebrate and honour life, to live knowing our actions affect all of life, and to catch beautiful visions to keep our spirits lifted and our minds strong through this challenging earth walk.
Indigenous prophesies around the world have been speaking about a time of purification and we are in it now. We need to be close to good strong medicines, ways of thinking and ways of dreaming new realities while the old ones collapse. If you are feeling called to this retreat, join us as part of the solution
In this 5-day immersion, we will share together in this medicinal and healing practice we call Yoga, laced with Cree Métis and other indigenous teachings so you can grieve, process and integrate the heavy, hard and dense parts of your life experience while you learn how to dust yourself off, lift yourself up, look and walk forward and dream into a new reality.
Program Highlights
During our time together, you will have the opportunity to dive deep into your being and a supportive community through daily rituals consisting of:
- Hatha (very heating and dynamic) and Yin/Restorative (very slow and calming)
- The powerful medicinal benefits of pranayama (Breathwork)
- Chanting the yogic prayers and singing drum songs to awaken the visionary part of your being
- Interacting with our kin, the land and waters to help us remember our power and duty to be a good ancestor for the future
- Making offerings, cry, laugh, and return to a place of inner resilience and vision through our time together
- You will have the opportunity to book a private session with Malina Dawn to get insight and support your continued growth after the retreat.
Join us on the powerful healing land of the toq qaymɩxʷ (Klahoose), ɬəʔamɛn qaymɩxʷ (Tla’amin), and ʔop qaymɩxʷ (Homalco) Nations territory (Colonial name: Cortes Island) to heal, strengthen and catch a beautiful vision for your life.
*Students will go through a screening process to make sure their bodies are capable enough for the yoga practice—the Hatha in particular is a very vigorous practice in this retreat. I do my best to teach yoga to all bodies and ages AND there is a strong dynamic movement portion to this retreat that does require a certain level of energetic capacity. If you want to come but have questions if it is the right fit for you, please reach out to [email protected].
I will meet you in the good medicine.
