Aslam Bulbulia

I’m from South Africa with Indian heritage, now living on unceded xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səl̓ilwətaɁɬ / sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil-Waututh) land. With a background in Political Science and Philosophy, I’ve explored diverse fields during my postgraduate studies, from city-planning and Islamic law to user-centered design and decoloniality. I hold Certificates in Dialogue and Civic Engagement, and restorative Justice from SFU and am a certified Deep Democracy instructor. Recently, my focus has been on fostering dialogue and engagement in Vancouver’s diverse landscape. I’ve been involved in shaping inclusive learning environments and shifting organizational cultures. My work at Vancouver Coastal Health and now at the City of Vancouver is about bringing restorative practices into workplace conflicts for personal and systemic transformation to occur. Feel free to check out my newsletter at shura.substack.com to read my latest reflections.
