Michelle Ng is the President and Founder of Vancouver Foodie Tours and Granville Island Delivery Co., two businesses built on her belief that food brings people together, generates happiness and shows appreciation. Born in Hong Kong, Michelle immigrated to Canada as a young girl and has called Richmond, BC home for nearly 40 years. She started Vancouver Foodie Tours more than 16 years ago and has grown it into one of the city’s most loved visitor experiences, welcoming over 75,000 guests and championing dozens of independent local food vendors. She later launched Granville Island Delivery Co. to share those same local makers through artisanal gift boxes, delivered to corporate clients and individual gift givers across Canada.
Giving back is built into both businesses. A portion of Vancouver Foodie Tours revenue supports Employ to Empower, a Vancouver non-profit helping Downtown Eastside residents build self-reliance through entrepreneurship, along with Plan International Canada’s work to end global hunger. At Granville Island Delivery Co., 1% of all gift box sales goes to Backpack Buddies, which feeds BC kids facing weekend hunger.
Michelle is happiest when she is connecting people. She hosts Delicious Connections, a monthly networking lunch series, is a member of the Rotary Club of Vancouver, volunteers with Kinbrace supporting refugee claimants, and has been her neighbourhood’s block watch captain for 13 years. Her goal is to grow her businesses 10x while generating happiness and appreciation for everyone they have the pleasure of working with and serving.
