Aki came up with the idea for Save Da Sea, while running her family’s Japanese restaurants. In 2018 she had became vegan and was looking for plant-based seafood alternatives and to her surprise couldn’t find any and so I developed her own recipes, and served these products in our restaurants. After validating that there was a market for these products, she made the leap to focus on Save Da Sea full-time in 2019.
Prior to Save Da Sea, she ran her family’s Japanese restaurants in Whistler and before this was an early employee at Hootsuite, a social media management software company in Vancouver on their Enterprise sales team where she saw the company grow from 100 to 1000 employees during her time there.
Save Da Sea is a plant-based seafood manufacturer based in Victoria, BC.
