Guiding this extraordinary experience is Jhaimy Alvarez Acosta, a Traditional Curandero (Healer) from Cusco, Peru. Initiated into the Wisdom Teachings of the Andes as a child, Jhaimy has spent more than three decades walking the path of a Wisdomkeeper, carrying forward the teachings of his Elders with humility, devotion, and deep reverence for the land.

Rooted in thousands of years of lived experience, these Indigenous teachings offer a powerful invitation to remember our place within the web of life. Practiced with reverence and humility, they illuminate a path toward deeper connection with ourselves, one another, Pachamama (Mother Earth), and the cosmos.

Meet Your Hollyhock Hosts

Alongside Jhaimy, this journey will be held by members of Hollyhock’s Senior Leadership Team, bringing decades of experience in transformational learning, cross-cultural exchange, and international travel.

Joining the trip is Hollyhock’s own CEO Katia Sol, whose background in Latin American Studies and decades of work with Indigenous communities and international educational exchange programs bring a thoughtful and relational approach to cross-cultural learning and connection.

Sachia Kron has been supporting transformational journeys in Peru since 2012. She is a Mesa carrier and has studied with Jhaimy Alvarez Acosta for the past five years. She helps create meaningful and grounded experiences that support participants throughout their journey.

Andean Wisdom of the Equinox

March Equinox is a sacred time of balance, when the Father Sun (Tata Inti) is in a moment of full harmony, when the day and night are the same. At this time, we are invited to move from reflection into creation. Just as winter offers a season for inward listening and contemplation, the Equinox marks a new beginning. It is a time to bring our dreams, intentions, and creativity into action. The ancestors teach that meaningful creation can only emerge from a place of inner peace. By cultivating harmony within ourselves, we create the conditions to build more beautiful realities for our lives, our communities, and the world around us. The Equinox invites us to cultivate inner peace, embrace balance, and take purposeful steps toward what we wish to create.

Day 1 – Arrival Day (March 13th)

Morning arrival in Cusco where you will be picked up at the airport and checked-in to the hotel to rest and acclimate to the altitude. There will be a Welcome Dinner and Orientation with Jhaimy Alvarez Acosta and the other participants on the journey.

Day 2 – Qoricancha / Cusco (March 14th)

We begin our journey in the heart of Cusco at Qoricancha , the “Golden Temple” in Quechua. Here Jhaimy will introduce us to the ceques or ritual pathways radiate outwards, connecting all the temples. Qoricancha will give us a strong grounding and context for the Andean teachings.

Day 3 – Sacsayhuamán / Pisac (March 15th)

Sacsayhuamán is the temple of the head of the puma overlooking Cusco. It connects us with the labyrinth of the mind where we can be reborn into a new state of consciousness.

In the afternoon, we will travel by bus to the sacred valley and visit the market in Pisac where there are beautiful authentic handicrafts and weavings for purchase.

Day 4 – Ollantaytambo (March 16th)

Begin the day at Ollantaytambo Temple, where we’ll explore the Wisdom Teachings of the four elements and the Llama – the path of service through love. We will enjoy a special lunch at  Tunupa and visit Ceramicas Seminario, a ceramic studio and workshop featuring Andean symbology.

In the evening, Jhaimy will share Andean Wisdom Teachings rooted in the Andean Cosmo-Vision, followed by a fireside blessing ritual to support healing and intention-setting for our ceremonial work at Killarumiyok.

Day 5 – Killarumiyok Ceremonial Experience (March 17th)

Spend the day immersed in a traditional sound ceremony, meditation, and Andean Wisdom Teachings with Jhaimy Alvarez Acosta at Killarumiyoq Temple, a sacred site connected to the energy of Mama Quilla (the Moon). The experience includes a traditional Despacho offering, inviting reflection, gratitude, and connection. In the evening, enjoy spaciousness for personal time, rest, and integration as the day’s teachings continue to unfold.

Day 6 – Aguas Calientes (March 18th)

Today, we embark on the trip to the temple of Machu Picchu aboard the Inca Rail train, where panoramic windows reveal breathtaking mountains, ancient temples, and the powerful Willkamayu/Urubumba River. As we travel toward Aguas Calientes – the gateway to Machu Picchu – the Andes gradually give way to the lush cloud forest, marking the transition from mountain to jungle. More than a passage between destinations, this is an invitation to slow down, absorb the beauty of the land, and prepare for the wonder that awaits at one of the world’s most sacred places.

Day 7 – Machu Picchu (March 19th)

Today we take a shuttle to the sacred sanctuary of Machu Picchu. Surrounded by the presence of the Apus (Mountain Spirits), we’ll explore this extraordinary site through meditation, reflection, and quiet connection with the land. At the citadel, we will spend the day attuning to the energetic centres of the temple. Together, we’ll make offerings to the Apus, honouring the spirit and wisdom of one of the world’s most revered sacred places.

Day 8 – Huayna Picchu (Equinox, March 20th)

On this day of Equinox when the energies come into harmony, we ascend Huayna Picchu mountain. From this place, we receive the energy and power of the crystal city, the Heart of the Mountain of Apu Machu Picchu. During the day, we will communicate with the spirit of the ancestors through the sacred geometry and portals of the temple and Wakas (Sacred Sites).

Day 9 – Chinchero (March 21st)

Leaving Aguas Calientes in the morning, we will begin our journey back to Cusco. Along the way, we will visit Chinchero, renowned for its rich textile traditions. There, we will spend time with a women’s weaving cooperative, whose members carry forward generations of knowledge through the art of natural dyeing, spinning, and weaving. This visit offers an opportunity to witness living cultural traditions, learn about the stories woven into each textile, and support a community dedicated to preserving ancestral practices.

Following our time in Chinchero, we will continue on to Cusco for a Celebration dinner and closing circle.

Day 10 – Cusco Departure (March 22nd)

After breakfast and farewells at the hotel, we will depart from Cusco and begin our journeys home. For those wishing to extend their stay, Cusco offers vibrant markets, exceptional restaurants, and the opportunity to spend a little more time exploring this historic city at your own pace.
