Laurel is Hollyhock’s Director of Development & Impact, helping shape and resource Hollyhock’s mission. She joined the Hollyhock team in 2019 as Executive Producer of Social Venture Institute (SVI), and went on to lead social innovation programming through the Hollyhock Leadership Institute, including Activate, Replenish, SVI, the Canadian Psychedelic Summit, and Women in Climate.
Passionate about transformational programming and adult education, Laurel’s career has taken her from the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, to THNK School of Creative Leadership in Amsterdam, to training women to be angel investors at Female Funders, and finally to Hollyhock. She is a 2020 Radius Fellow and has trained as a coach with Coaches Training Institute (CTI).
Living at the intersection of comedic improviser and data scientist, Laurel loves meeting new people and making connections between them.
A settler with French, English, Scottish, and Irish ancestry, Laurel is deeply privileged to live on the unceded lands of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), Stóō, Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh), and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nations.
Outside of work, Laurel volunteers in her community, teaches improv, and is momma to a four-year-old. She is excited to be on the amazing leadership journey that is parenthood!
