Our presenters are curated for their quality, depth, integrity, and alignment with our educational purpose. Since 1982, a distinguished faculty of authors, educators, activists, artists, performers, and practitioners have shared their work at our Cortes Island campus and in Vancouver.
Jake Davis was introduced to Buddhist teachings at age 14, by Steven Smith and Michele McDonald, and went on to do years of intensive retreat practice, studying the Pāli texts, working as an interpreter, and training as a monk under the eminent meditation masters Sayadaw U Pandita and Sayadaw U Lakkhana of Burma. He is deeply grateful for the opportunity to support individuals in developing silent retreat practice and theoretical understanding, in collaboration with organizations such as Vipassana Hawai`i, the Karachi meditation sangha, and Stillpoint Martha’s Vineyard. Jake’s teaching draws on his experience as a father, partner, student & son, as well as on academic work in Philosophy and Cognitive Science, and ongoing training in navigating inner and outer conflict.
