Our presenters are curated for their quality, depth, integrity, and alignment with our educational purpose. Since 1982, a distinguished faculty of authors, educators, activists, artists, performers, and practitioners have shared their work at our Cortes Island campus and in Vancouver.
Loretta Laurin

Loretta Laurin (they/she) is a lover of movements and thrives in the juicy space where art meets activism. They have been teaching a variety of embodiment modalities over 10 years, including Bellyfit®, Pilates, Yoga, Contact Improvisation, and Fusion partner dancing. They also have experience as a social justice educator facilitating workshops on topics such as power and privilege, anti-racism, gender, and consent culture. Drawing upon diverse modalities and experiences, Loretta’s workshops strike a unique balance of grounded depth and light-hearted play.
Loretta is also an SFU graduate with certificates in Applied Human Nutrition, Religious Studies, Sustainable Community Development, and Liberal Arts; and is currently working towards a Masters in Counselling Psychology. They were Hollyhock’s Communications Manager for over 5 years, are a co-founder of the social enterprise Shift Delivery Co-op, and are currently working for the Hospital Employees’ Union.
