Nicole has worked in non-profit fundraising for the last decade. She spent ten years living in Montreal and worked at the campus-community radio station while studying at McGill University. She believes both journalism and fiction are power tools for storytelling and inspiring impact in the world. Prior to joining Hollyhock, Nicole was a leader of the Ocean Legacy Foundation and managed industrial scale environmental restoration projects that were focused on cleaning coasts and waterways around the West Coast, Interior BC and Nova Scotia. Before working in the environmental sector Nicole supported strong and lasting strategic partnerships for non-profits arts groups such as the Vancouver Mural Festival, the PuSh International Performing Arts Festival and the Bill Reid Gallery of Northwest Coast Arts.
Outside of work Nicole is an avid reader, has a dedicated yoga practice and spends as much time as she can outside with her dogs. She has self-published two short collections of stories and poetry under the nom de plume Eve Nixen. She is currently developing a new collection of stories that explores laundry and peoples relationships with the world as expressed through habitual practices, like washing your clothes.
