The Story of Julie + Hollyhock
Dear friends, I was 25 years old when a series of synchronicities compelled me to move to Cortes Island, B.C., and begin working at the front desk at Hollyhock. During that formative time, two passions became ignited for me: partnering with helping spirits, and spiritual evolution by way of long-term trainings.
Over twenty-five years later, I’ve come full circle. I’m overjoyed to invite you to the second year-long blended learning spiritual practitioner training consisting of two residential retreats at Hollyhock, the seeds for which were planted there over two decades ago.

Have you ever witnessed a death and sensed the soul leaving the body? Or perceived the lingering presence of a loved one long after their passing? Have you ever felt drawn to supporting the dying but not known how to play a meaningful role to help people prepare for death and ease their passing?
Many people who have been at the bedside of the dying experience a “thinning of the veils.” During these “thin times,” people often sense the presence of benevolent spirit guides surrounding the person who is dying. These helping spirits are gathering to serve three essential functions: to signal to the person who is dying that death is near; to help them release their body; and to guide their soul to the other side. The helping spirits who specialize in supporting the dying in these ways are called “psychopomp allies.”

Whether we’re aware of them or not, we all have compassionate helping spirits who are devoted to our well-being, potentiation, and evolution. The practice of journeying enables us to initiate contact with our spirit guides in order to receive their immediate support whenever we’re in need of wise council, helpful insights, and powerful healing.
This is a stand-alone workshop that also serves as the prerequisite for both Becoming a Spiritual Healing Practitioner Level I: The Essentials and Guiding Souls to Cross Over: The Art & Practice of Psychopomp.
About Julie
Julie M. Kramer was introduced to the practice of shamanic journeying in 2000 while attending a retreat at Hollyhock, which enabled her to begin cultivating direct relationships with compassionate helping spirits. Inspired by the teachings that everyone has helping spirits and anyone can learn the practice of journeying in order to form relationships with them, Julie began leading beginner shamanic journeying workshops in 2003.
In 2006, Julie expanded her offerings by beginning to teach advanced shamanic healing techniques for resolving spiritual illness. This precipitated the creation of “Becoming a Spiritual Healing Practitioner” in 2012; a comprehensive three-year training for developing the skillset, proficiency, and capacity needed to provide professional spiritual healing for clients. The natural next step was for Julie to begin training teachers, which started in 2024.
