Host

Job Description:

The duties of this position include the following:

POSITION TITLE: Host
REPORTS TO: Hosting & Volunteer Services Program Manager

POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Hosting & Volunteer Services Program Manager, the Host provides a presence in the Lodge and a point of contact for guests’ questions and requests. The Host collaborates closely with the Kitchen and Guest Services, providing first-rate customer service and a standard of hospitality excellence. The Host also assists during conferences, special events, and parties and transports guests and their luggage to accommodations on Arrival/Departure days.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Keeps Lodge bathrooms, dining room, foyer/ halls, kitchen serving room, fire place room, outside decks clean and tidy
  • Stocks and tidies coffee/tea bar
  • Prepares dining room, serving room, decks and coffee bar for meals
  • Rings the bell to announce meal times
  • Cleans up after meals
  • Cleans Lodge windows as necessary
  • Sweeps Lodge decks and keep shoes tidy at entrance
  • Takes arriving guests and luggage to rooms
  • Transports luggage for departing guests
  • Collaborates across Departments (including with Housekeeping, the Kitchen , Production, and Guest Services)
  • Provides additional support to conferences and special events (coffee bars, evening activities, parties)
  • Other duties as assigned

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong knowledge of basic catering, food and beverage preparations, service standards, guest relations and etiquette
  • Working knowledge of the Hollyhock facility, services and local area of Cortes/Discovery Islands
  • Previous experience working as Host/Hostess at a Restaurant, Retreat Centre or Boutique hotel
  • Professional attitude
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task
  • Ability to respond calmly in busy situations
  • Must enjoy extensive guest contact
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced environment
  • Must be flexible and be able to adapt to challenging situations
  • Occupation First Aid certification is an asset

WORKING CONDITIONS

Registered Massage Therapist (Full or Part Time)

Hollyhock is seeking a qualified, energetic, talented Registered Massage Therapist to join our team.

The ideal applicant is skilled in a variety of modalities and able to cater to a range of guests that desire both relaxation and therapy based treatments.

Preference will be given to applicants with four or more years of experience (spa, clinic, private practice or resort settings). The successful applicant is a RMT in BC, works well with others, is professional, flexible and positive with excellent communication and customer service skills.

This seasonal position begins in May and runs through October. Weekend and evening work is required. Applicants must be legally eligible to work in Canada.

REPORTS TO: Retail & Bodywork Manager

POSITION SUMMARY

Hollyhock bodyworkers provide highly skilled bodywork in a manner that is professional, respectful and sensitive to the needs of the client. This position contributes positively to the bodywork team by being a dedicated, supportive, solutions-oriented, considerate and motivated team member. All bodyworkers are directly responsible to the bodywork manager and are hired on a commission basis.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Understand and be familiar with policies and procedures in the Bodywork Department Manual
  • Act in accordance with bodywork policies regarding practices at the bodywork studio, professionalism and client relations, and time off requests
  • Supply all linens, oils, stones (for stone massage) and optional music/CD player
  • Launder own linens (off Hollyhock property)
  • Call store/reception for sessions in a timely manner
  • Submit complete, accurate timesheets and supply reimbursement forms to the bodywork manager on the last day of each pay period
  • Check the bodywork mailbox/folder frequently
  • Complete time off forms for all time off requests
  • Arrange shift coverage when taking time off
  • Complete a self-directed evaluation annually
  • Attend monthly staff meetings

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Requires a diploma/degree/certification in modalities being offered
  • Previous experience in a spa, clinic, resort setting or private practice
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work cohesively as part of a team
  • Highly responsible and reliable, able to manage time well.

  • Ability to work a varied schedule including weekends, evenings and statutory holidays
  • The work can be strenuous and requires standing for long periods of time.

Hollyhock is seeking experienced, energetic, talented practitioners to join our team.

The ideal applicant is skilled in a variety of modalities including Swedish massage. Deep, Stone, CranioSacral Therapy, Lymphatic Drainage, Reflexology, Thai massage and experience giving body care treatments are assets. Enthusiasm for learning new skills is essential.

Preference will be given to applicants with four or more years of experience (spa, clinic, private practice or resort settings). RMT certification is an asset. The successful applicant works well with others, is professional, flexible and positive with excellent communication and customer service skills.
